About Us

The China Education Project

The China Education Project is a group of American educators working in rural China on a volunteer basis. TCEP started in 2001 by a group of five concerned American educator's in Beijing, China. We feel that the needs of the rural population of China were either being ignored by the government or trivialized by most Chinese citizens in urban areas. The rural students of China also have very limited access to foreign teachers and western culture. Our organization wanted to change that situation. Currently, we have over 60 volunteers all around China.

Another problem is that most of the funding has come from our own pockets, friends, family and generous donations from other like minded people. We decided to start this website to try elevate people's awarness of the situation in rural China and to try get more funding to continue our work here.

We would like to thank all of those people who have supported our organization from day one and we would like thank all of those new donors who have decided to make a diffrence in the lives of those who need it the most.
